Tom Fuller and Cindy Hayden, having worked for several years in the non-profit world came to the conclusion that there are simply too many negative aspects and stumbling blocks involved in the non-profit approach. Even organizations that, purportedly, are there to support non-profits,
in reality, often have their own agendas that are not necessarily in line with the goals of the non-profit. Misinformed and/or misdirected board members can bring an original and positive vision to its knees. Often, the more people that become involved in a given project, the less likely it is to ever bear fruit. Therefore, we have decided to form the company hereafter known as Slipped Disc Productions. It is a privately owned company that strives to enrich and strengthen the community in which it operates. By choosing this course, we remove any hope of receiving grants or support from organizations such as The Weatherwax Foundation or any, otherwise available, federal and state funding. However, we also are able to avoid the too-frequent pitfalls of operating within the restrictions of narrow minded, self-agrandizing individuals that too often rise to positions of power and believe that, they alone, should decide what projects will be allowed to exist. We have chosen a more difficult route, but our belief in what we do will hopefully carry the day.
